Privacy
The Chronos Catalog is an independent ancient history channel and website run by one person in the United States. This page says plainly what the site collects and what happens to it. Questions go to dispatch@thechronoscatalog.com.
What this site collects
Only what you type into the Chronos Dispatch form: your email address. The site has no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising or tracking scripts, and it sets no cookies. The typefaces are served from this site’s own server, so reading a page sends no request to a font service.
Like any web server, ours keeps routine access logs: the IP address, the browser, the page requested, and the time. They are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to identify or profile anyone. The site is hosted on a server rented from Hostinger.
What happens to your email address
- Your browser sends it straight to Kit (kit.com), the email service that keeps the list and sends the Dispatch. It does not pass through anything else first.
- Kit sends you a confirmation email. You are not on the list until you click the link in it. Kit records the time of your sign-up and of your confirmation as the record of your consent.
- The address is used for one thing: the Dispatch, meaning notices of new work and the source notes behind it. It is never sold, rented, or shared with anyone else.
Videos on this site
Entry pages show a still picture where the video would be. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, the privacy-enhanced version of YouTube’s player, and Google’s privacy policy covers that request. Links that say “Watch on YouTube” open YouTube itself.
Your choices
- Every Dispatch email carries an unsubscribe link. One click removes you.
- Write to dispatch@thechronoscatalog.com to see what is held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted entirely, including the record Kit keeps of past unsubscribes. Requests are answered by a person.
- If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom: the basis for holding your address is your consent, given when you confirm, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. Kit stores the list in the United States.
Do Not Track
Nothing on this site follows you to other sites, and no third party is allowed to collect information about your browsing here, so a browser’s Do Not Track signal changes nothing on this site.
Children
The Dispatch is not directed to children under 13, and their addresses are not knowingly collected. If you believe a child has signed up, write in and the address will be removed.
Changes to this page
If this page changes, the revision date beside it changes too, and any change to how your address is used will be announced in the next Dispatch before it takes effect.
The Chronos Dispatch
The Dispatch form is the only part of this site that asks you for anything.
